Chicago’s playoff fate is out of their control. Two wins will give them an outside chance of nicking a postseason berth but they will need the New England Revolution to fall short. To say that the situation isn’t ideal would be something of an understatement…
However, the Fire are 8/11 favourites with Unibet to win this weekend. Taking advantage of home games is always key to success in Major League Soccer but it is absolutely essential at this stage of the campaign. Chicago will be fired up and ready for war this weekend.
It has been a struggle at times this year but Toronto are in the Major League Soccer playoffs. Greg Vanney’s side are sixth in the Eastern Conference standings and they are guaranteed a spot in the 2019 postseason – that will be a relief for Toronto fans across the country.
Six points from their final two games of the regular season will help to build momentum for the playoffs though and Toronto supporters will be expecting at least one victory in the next couple of weeks. A road win in Chicago will certainly help to keep morale high.

Chicago Desperate For A Miracle…
Even the most ardent and passionate Chicago supporter will know that a playoff berth is very unlikely this campaign. However, that will not stop Fire fans from keeping the faith and you never know – sport is unpredictable at the best of times.
Defensively, Chicago are solid. Only three teams in the Eastern Conference have a better defensive record than the Fire and Veljko Paunovic’s side will be relying on their prowess at the back to get them into the playoffs. A win to nil here would be ideal for Chicago.
With that in mind, opting for under 2.5 goals in the game could be the way to go. Expect the Fire to try and keep the contest close in the first half and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see this game settled by the odd goal.
Toronto Cannot Take Foot Off The Gas
Momentum is key to success in the playoffs and Toronto must get back to winning ways at the first time of asking after their disappointing Canadian Championship defeat to Montreal Impact. Their recent MLS form has been impressive so hopefully that loss doesn’t have a lasting effect.
Vanney will have his troops fired up and raring to go for this weekend’s game – it has all the makings of an exciting and entertaining affair. If Toronto manage to perform at their best, it could go right down to the wire and Chicago fans will be nervous.
From a Toronto perspective, a draw would be a decent result but the visitors will be looking for three points. The Canadian side are much stronger on home turf than they are on the road but a positive result in Chicago will only help confidence ahead of the playoffs.
Toronto will be quietly confident of leaving Chicago with at least a point and it would take a brave man to back against the visitors. Vanney’s side will have a game plan and they could decide to treat this like a playoff game. It wouldn’t be a huge shock to see Toronto go with a defensive game plan.
If everything goes to plan, Toronto will come away with three points and a real confidence boost but it is never as simple as that. Chicago will throw everything at the visitors in a bid to take their playoff status to the final weekend but Toronto may prove too strong.
TIP: Toronto to win or draw
CORRECT SCORE: Chicago Fire 1-1 Toronto FC
