D.C. United will look to secure their third home victory in a row against a Montreal side that hasn’t travelled well so far in this new MLS season. The Impact, currently second bottom in the Eastern Conference, are yet to win on the road in 2017 and United will be confident of picking up all three points this weekend.
As of May 4th, the hosts are favoured with most bookmakers for the win. Bet365 are offering Even Money on a D.C. United victory and it would take a brave man to back against them on current form. With back-to-back home wins in recent games, United will be full of confidence ahead of Montreal’s visit.
Some punters will be tempted by the draw – and with good reason. Montreal have failed to inspire confidence away from home this campaign but they have managed to draw a decent number of games. 10Bet are going 5/2 for an even contest at Audi Field.
If you fancy the Canadian outfit to break their away duck, there is value in the market. At the time of writing, 888Sport are going 29/11 for an Impact victory. On paper, this looks a step too far but football is a funny old game and Montreal stand a chance if they find their best form.
Individual Goal Scorers
While he has failed to find the net in four Major League Soccer games so far this season, Patrick Mullins may be D.C. United’s best hope in front of goal here. The 25-year-old is very talented and he may be the man to make the difference when Montreal visit. At an industry best 6/4 with Bet365 to score at anytime, he is well worth backing.
A more reliable option to open the scoring might just be Luciano Acosta. With three goals in the league, he is D.C’s top scorer and another could be on the cards this weekend. At the time of writing, he is well priced at 15/2 to net the first goal with bet365 and the Argentina man will be keen to add to his tally if possible.
For the visitors, it is a difficult one. Anthony Jackson-Hamel has notched three goals so far this campaign and he may be one to consider. Montreal aren’t exactly blessed with talent in attack and 23-year-old Canadian might be the man to back at 11/4 to score anytime with William Hill.
Meanwhile, those looking for a first goal scorer may be tempted by the 6/1, available with Winner Sports, for Matteo Mancosu to grab the opener. The Italian has scored twice this season and he will be desperately looking to add to his tally this weekend. United aren’t renowned for their strength at the back and goals could be on the cards.
Other Side Bets
With so much attacking talent on display, goals look very likely indeed. For those looking to back a hatful, over 2.5 goals is at 68/67 with 10Bet. In recent weeks, Montreal have started to find the net and D.C. will be looking to notch a few goals on home soil.
By the same token, the 19/20 available with Betway for the Impact to draw OR win is very appealing. Yes, they have struggled on the road but, prior to their recent back-to-back wins, D.C. haven’t been blistering at home either. Montreal could snatch a draw if they get their game plan right.
