Saturday’s encounter between the Raptors and the Wizards should, in theory, produce a comfortable outing for the Canadian side. In terms of league standings, the gap of eight places would put Nick Nurse’s men in the frame for the 27th win of this impressive campaign.

We’ll make comparisons, including win percentages, shortly but let’s firstly kick-off by seeing if the sportsbooks agree with that theory.

Moneyline Result Betting

The bookmakers are in full agreement and the straight result odds have Toronto as the clear favourites. On their home court, the Raptors can be claimed at 1.18 with PowerPlay while victory for the Washington Wizards can be picked up at 5.25 with Bet365.

The Raptors’ most recent win over Oklahoma City Thunder leaves them with 26 wins from 40 games in this campaign to date. That’s a win percentage of .650 and it leaves Nick Nurse’s men in an impressive fourth place in the Eastern Conference going into this game.

In contrast, the Wizards arrive at the Scotiabank Arena in 12th place with 13 wins and 27 defeats. That’s almost a complete reversal of Toronto’s stats and it leaves Scott Brooks’ men with a win percentage of just .325.

We’ll consider more factors when we reach our verdict but it’s looking like we’ll need to head to the prop bets if we want some value from this encounter.

Likely Prop Bets

We can look at the spread or the Total Points betting if we want some better profits from this match. Total Points should be safer and the Raptor’s recent stats suggest that we should be backing over a high line at 229.5. After a subdued, 84-76 defeat to the Heat on January 3rd, Toronto has reached at least 99 points in their subsequent five matches with a high coming in that most recent 130-121 win over the Thunder.

Washington may not contribute too much but they have conceded the most points in the NBA this season and we’re happy to go above 229.5 at 1.91 with Sports Interaction. If you disagree and think this may be a low scorer, Bodog has a line at 231.5 and you can go under to get those same odds of 1.91.

In terms of the spread, there are lots of options to consider and with Spin Sports, you can take the Toronto Raptors at anywhere between -5.5 and -14.5. Betting at -13.5 could be the route to follow with Spin Sports listing odds of 2.40.

Finally, we could look at the winner of the first quarter. The Raptors should make a fast start and their win odds in this market look a little better at 1.53 with PowerPlay. Alternatively, the same sportsbook lists Washington at 2.87.

It’s not all good news for Toronto Raptors and the absence of Fred VanVleet could give the Wizards some hope of an upset. In truth, there should be enough depth in the roster to cover for the influential Point Guard and Toronto will be relieved that VanVleet isn’t missing a tougher contest.

No disrespect is intended towards Washington but it’s hard to see the Wizards living with the 2019 NBA Champions. They are weak on the road and while the Scotiabank Arena isn’t exactly a fortress, this match is destined to go with the favourites. Moving away from the straight win, these prop bets will hopefully provide some better value for this clash.

Best Bets:

  • Total Points at Over 229.5 at 1.91 with Sports Interaction
  • Toronto Raptors to win the first quarter at 1.53 with PowerPlay
