As predicted by us in our preview earlier this week, Game 4 turned out to be the highest-scoring encounter of the series so far. The Boston Bruins emerged victorious in a 6-4 thriller to level up the series at 2-2 and Bruce Cassidy’s men will be quietly confident of taking a 3-2 lead into Game 6. Write the Bruins off at your own peril….
Brad Marchand was key to Boston’s success in Game 4, scoring one and assisting two for his teammates. Recording three points in a single game takes some doing and it is testament to his talent. The Maple Leafs will be keeping a much closer eye on the Boston star in Game 6; allowing Marchand to control proceedings could prove decisive.
Auston Matthews grabbed a couple of goals in that defeat and Toronto fans will be hoping that the former number one overall NHL Draft pick can make the difference. He has been the face of the Maple Leafs organisation since joining the team in 2016 and punters will be backing Toronto at 15/13 to win Game 5 purely because of his impact and influence.
The Maple Leafs are going to need plenty of luck to emerge victorious in Game 5. Boston have the bit between their teeth and that triumph on Canadian ice has handed momentum to the Bruins. It should be another thrilling instalment in this fierce rivalry and neutrals will not want to miss any of the action.

Bruins In Series Driving Seat
Credit where credit is due: Boston were outstanding in Game 4 and were excellent value for that success. The Bruins faithful will now be hoping that the team can deliver on home ice; taking a 3-2 series lead into Game 6 north of the border is an absolute must. Defeat for the Bruins at TD Garden could signal the end of their Stanley Cup dreams.
Betway are going 10/1 for Boston to lift ice hockey’s ultimate prize this year and there is still a long way to go before the Bruins can dream of glory. Cassidy’s side are slight favourites to advance to the next round but there isn’t much in it and Toronto will remain confident of getting their noses back in front at the first time of asking.
Maple Leafs Have To Win On Road
With two of the three remaining matches taking place at TD Garden, the Maple Leafs have to go into Boston’s backyard and win at least once. And that is of course assuming that the Canadian side manage to beat the Bruins on home ice. Hitting the panic button would be foolish but their position is precarious at best – Toronto need a big performance here.
Now 12/1 for Stanley Cup success with 888sport, bookmakers are still split down the middle on both teams. Capable of going all the way, Toronto have that additional star quality but inconsistencies have hindered the Canadian side in recent months. This is not the time for slipping up; the Maple Leafs need their star men to step up to the plate.
Momentum has shifted in favour of Boston and the Bruins are the team to back here. From a Canadian perspective, the Maple Leafs have won at TD Garden already this series though and that will give Toronto supporters a lift ahead of what could be a decisive clash.
Win and the Maple Leafs are in a strong position ahead of Game 6 on home ice. Lose and it could go down to Game 7 and that will favour Boston. With the series currently level at 2-2, this is the biggest game of the series so far.
TIP: Boston Bruins to win
CORRECT SCORE: Boston Bruins 4-2 Toronto Maple Leafs
